Why choose James Hardie?
Fibre cement gives a home a more substantial finish, with profiles and colours that work on both traditional and modern exteriors.
Built for demanding weather
James Hardie fibre-cement siding is designed to resist weather and impact damage, including hail. It is not damage-proof, but it is a durable option to compare with vinyl.
The look of wood, less upkeep
Choose smooth or woodgrain finishes without the same concerns about rotting wood siding. Factory-applied colour options help resist fading.
A more cohesive exterior
Lap siding, panels and trim let you change the character of the whole house—or make a targeted repair fit the existing finish.
A durable material, properly detailed.
Windows and doors
Water-management layers, flashing and trim are planned around the openings—not added as an afterthought.
Clearances and fastening
Panel spacing, fasteners and clearance from roofs and ground follow the selected product’s installation requirements.

Choosing your siding.
Why choose James Hardie instead of vinyl siding?
Fibre cement gives you a solid, painted finish with a choice of profiles and textures. Hardie is designed to resist weather and impact, though severe hail can still damage it. Vinyl can be a practical lower-cost choice; we install both and can explain the trade-offs.
Can I replace only the damaged wall?
Sometimes. We need to inspect the damage and check whether the profile, thickness and finish can be matched. An older wall may have faded, so a new section will not always blend in perfectly.
What happens to the house wrap and flashing?
Siding is the outer finish, not the entire weather barrier. We review the accessible wall layers and the flashing around windows, doors and other transitions. Needed repairs are included in the scope rather than hidden behind new boards.
Can Hardie siding change the look of my home?
Yes. Lap siding, panel styles, trim and colour choices can change the proportions and character of the exterior. We can work through those choices using your house, rather than ask you to choose from a small colour swatch alone.
Does fibre-cement siding need maintenance?
Yes, although it does not need the same upkeep as traditional wood siding. Periodic gentle cleaning and checks of joints, sealant and finishes still matter. Follow the care instructions for the specific product and finish; avoid aggressive pressure washing.
Will you install vinyl instead if it suits my budget?
Yes. We also install vinyl siding. We can compare appearance, upkeep and price for the scope you need, including whether a repair or partial replacement makes sense.
What affects the cost of replacing siding?
Wall area, access, material and trim choices, window and door details, tear-off and the condition behind the existing siding all affect the price. We separate the visible finish from any repair work so you can see what you are paying for.
